Investments in economic development help our communities thrive and benefit from regional strengths. Manitoba must have a strategy for these investments to guide and coordinate economic development over the long-term. Both municipalities and the Province of Manitoba share an interest in creating a solid, diverse economic base from which all Manitoba communities can flourish. Since economic development is a multi-year process, commitment and stability are essential.
In June 2016, a group of rural leaders completed a rural economic development strategy. This strategy was the result of eight months of work, led by a Steering Committee and chaired by AMM Executive Director Joe Masi and Donna Morken. The process was an update of previous consultative discussions with new information and stakeholder input.
