Municipal Leader – Spring 2012
Some issues of the Municipal Leader focus on specific issues through special reports, and some issues offer a wider variety of articles and features. So it is with the spring, 2012 issue – we tackle everything from how to ensure people with disabilities are included in your community, to why your municipality should jump on the social media bandwagon, to how to write a resolution.
Of course, the spring issue is also your official guide to the annual Municipal Officials Seminar and MTCML Trade Show, and we’ve got everything from agendas to plenary previews to a complete trade show listing, along with a sneak peak at the finalists for the annual Municipal Excellence Award.
But no issue of the Leader would be complete (or very interesting) without talking about people, and we do that, too. In our recap of the AMM’s inaugural “Women in Municipal Government Lunch & Learn” we highlight City of Brandon Mayor Shari Decter Hirst’s experience as a first time Mayor – the good, the bad, and the ugly – but mainly good. We also applaud RM of Ritchot Mayor Bob Stefaniuk and his municipality on receiving a special award, and we say farewell to a long-time reeve, AMM honourary life member, and friend, George Harbottle.
