The AMM met with the Honourable Cliff Cullen, Minister of Growth, Enterprise and Trade on September 6, 2016.
The Rural Economic Development Strategy was first up on the agenda, with the AMM requesting Minister Cullen fully implement all the recommendations in the report.
Essential cell service and internet access was also discussed. The AMM recommended the government develop partnerships with other orders of government and the private sector to improve communication networks in rural, remote and northern communities.
The AMM also urged the Minister to develop a short-term and long-term plan in partnership with affected municipalities and the federal government regarding the sustainability of the Port of Churchill.
