AMM Meets with Minister of Families
The AMM met with the Minister of Families, the Honourable Scott Fielding on July 4.
Topping the agenda was a discussion around accessibility legislation and standards. The AMM fully supports improved accessibility for Manitobans, but reiterated the development and implementation of accessibility standards requires consultation and partnerships with municipalities, as well as funding support from the Province of Manitoba.
Next, the AMM asked for an increase in the number of safe and affordable childcare spaces across Manitoba. Childcare is an essential element in local communities, and investing in childcare services helps stimulate economic activity.
The need to increase the stock of affordable and seniors’ housing was also discussed with Minister Fielding.
