Job Description:


The Finance Officer reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and is responsible for providing financial and clerical services. Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner ensures that municipal operations are maintained in an effective and efficient manner.


  1. Provide financial support to ensure that municipal operations are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner

Main Activities:

  • Maintain receivable, payable and payroll accounts.
  • Perform Bank account reconciliations.
  • Make journal entries, maintain the general ledger and interfunding
  • GST reporting
  • Keep track of Manitoba Employee Benefits Program, Employee benefits and claims, union dues
  • Equipment and Labour distribution
  • Gas inventory
  • Workers Compensation fees
  • Tracks tangible capital assets as required by PSAB.
  • Summer students claims.
  • Economic Development Officer Claims
  1. Provide support to Council to ensure that Council is provided with the resources to make effective decisions

Main Activities:

  • Prepares bi-weekly payrolls for employees.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for the Town of Lynn Lake
  • Provide monthly cheque lists to council.
  • Prepare cheques.
  • Assist the CAO with gathering information for yearly budget.
  • Assist the CAO with gathering information for year-end financial statements.
  1. Perform other related duties as required
  2. Benefits:
  • Pension after six months
  • Benefits after one month
