Job Description:

The Rural Municipality of Rockwood is seeking applications for the position of Finance Officer

Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Finance Officer is responsible for providing financial and clerical services and will assist with the day-to-day management of financial transactions and procedures.  This is a permanent, full-time position.

Qualifications / Duties / Responsibilities

• Diploma in Accounting / Business Administration or 3 years experience in an accounting and administrative role
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• Process Taxation and Accounts Receivable transactions – including property tax billing and tax roll maintenance, accounts receivable invoicing, online payment receipting, etc.
• Create journal entries, maintain the general ledger and inter-funding.
• Assist the Manager of Finance with gathering information for annual budget and annual audit.
• Answering and directing phone calls.
• Other duties may be assigned that would reasonably be expected by a person in this position.

Preference given to those with:

• Municipal accounting knowledge background
• CMMA designation
