Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Provide professional leadership, planning and direction for City of Morden Operations, which includes Public Works, Solid Waste, Water Treatment Plant and Utilities Departments, for the purpose of supporting the City’s vision and aligning programs with Corporate Strategic and Business Plans.
  • Oversee the efficient and effective use of all resources, including financial, material and human, in the planning, installation, operation, maintenance and repair or upgrade of all City infrastructure including roadways, sidewalks, water and sewer lines, water treatment plant, sewage lagoon, street lighting, signage and airport.
  • Ensure all City infrastructure is maintained in a safe and serviceable condition to meet the needs of the community.
  • Work as an effective Team Builder for Operations Group of Departments.
  • Act as Safety Officer for the City of Morden ensuring that Safety Programs are developed and adhered to for the safety and protection of employees, residents, infrastructure and resources.

The preferred candidate will have the following qualifications:
• Five years supervisory/management experience in a multi-disciplined role, preferably within municipal operations
• Certification in Public Works Supervision or similar through a College is desirable (C.E.T. designation preferred)
• Practical knowledge and experience in computer systems for business applications
• Post-secondary education in disciplines such as administrative management, leadership, or human resource management is desirable
• Project management experience and certification is an asset
• Knowledge of Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations
• Ability to effectively communicate technical information and provide consistent, professional customer service in the face of ongoing change, regular interruptions and the pressure of deadlines
• Have a strong desire for the betterment and development of our community
• Valid Class 5 Drivers license
