Job Description:

This position is under the direct supervision of the Public Works Foreman and is responsible for performing various tasks necessary for the repair, maintenance, and operation of all the municipal equipment.

The successful candidate will be required to:
Duties included, but not limited to:
•Make recommendations regarding the extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement.
•Repair the equipment in a timely and financially responsible manner.
•Think logically and keep up with changes in technology.
•Interpret work orders and technical manuals.
•Have a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety.
•Be motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision.
•Providing and maintaining a set of tools required to perform required functions.
•Performing other tasks related to his/her classification.
•Keep maintenance reports, inventory and documentation up to date.
•Keep a tidy workplace free of any hazards.

Applicants are required to have a Journeyman Heavy Equipment Mechanic Certification, interprovincial Red Seal is preferred, min 5 years’ experience and have a complete set of mechanical tools for use during employment.

Experience operating heavy equipment and trucks is also required. Welding experience will also be an asset.

The incumbent will be required to hold a valid class one with air endorsement Manitoba driver’s license. The incumbent will be required to work 40 hours per week and to be available for any call out emergencies that may arise from time to time.

Salary range $ 39.83 per hour and will be administered in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.
