At the AMM Annual Convention in 2009 the membership passed a resolution calling on the AMM to “strike
a steering committee to identify barriers to women’s participation in municipal government and make
recommendations at the next AMM Convention on how more women could be engaged in decision making”.
The AMM Board of Directors appointed a three-member Task Force to explore this issue in depth and generate
a report for the membership. The decision was made to share this report with the membership at the 2010
June District Meetings in order to have the findings available prior to the 2010 municipal election in October.
