The Manitoba Municipal Efficiency
Program (MMEP) was created to provide municipalities with a
comprehensive blueprint to reduce energy consumption which lowers
operating costs while meeting citizen expectations for environmentally-friendly
operating.
The program was a coordinated project spearheaded by the AMM
in partnership with Manitoba Hydro, Manitoba Conservation, Manitoba
Culture, Heritage and Tourism and Prairie Farm Rehabilitation
Administration (PFRA). With funding from the Federation of Canadian
Municipalities’ Green Municipal Fund and the Province
of Manitoba’s Sustainable Development Innovations Fund
(SDIF), energy audits were conducted on municipally owned and
operated buildings in 14 municipalities. Overview
