PSAB The Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) through the Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) sets standards for government accounting and financial reporting. Beginning on January 1, 2009, CPA Canada required that all governments in Canada, including local governments, adopt PSAB generally accepted accounting practices (PSAB GAAP). Subsequent to 2009, Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) continues to establish and develop new standards and guidelines related to municipal financial statements. The AMM and Manitoba Municipal Government undertook a joint venture to help municipalities adopt PSAB GAAP. To oversee implementation of the plan a Steering Committee was formed comprised of representatives from the AMM, the Manitoba Municipal Administrators Association (MMAA), and the Province of Manitoba. The committee continues to provide leadership and direction to the project. The project team, resourced by both AMM and the department, continue to develop and provide reference manuals, in conjunction with training, advice and one on one assistance, to help CAOs and finance staff address the technical issues created by the move to PSAB.

Surveys From time to time the AMM undertakes surveys to gauge public opinion on various issues, either on its own or in collaboration with other organizations.
