The Municipality of Souris-Glenwood invites applications for the position of Public Works Manager. This is a full time 40 hours per week senior management position reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer and Public Works Committee. Attendance to various Committee and Council meetings as required. The Public Works Manager will manage the Municipality’s Urban and Rural Public Works Department.
Preference will be given to a candidate with experience working for a municipality in a public works environment and has a good understand of both urban and rural municipal infrastructure and equipment, municipal water and sewer treatment.
Education, Skills and Abilities preferred:
Ability to read plans and blueprints
Previous experience in underground services and road works
Understanding of basic principles of surveying
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and GIS computer programs
Knowledge of The Dangerous Goods Act, Workplace Health and Safety and WHMIS
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage several projects or issues simultaneously
Ability to work independently or in a team environment
Ability to deal with people in a tactful and diplomatic manner
Basic understanding of municipal budgeting process – operating and long term capital
Valid Class 3 with air Manitoba Drivers Licence
