The Town of Beausejour is a progressive community that seeks managed growth in the face of declining rural communities. Situated an easy hour from Winnipeg to the West the community is at the foot of the Whiteshell, and Beaches giving it gateway status to some of Manitoba’s best cottage and recreation areas. So as you consider the following position we offer Public Works Manager think of it also in the context of lifestyle.

The Public Works Manager reports to the CAO and is responsible for all aspects of the towns Public Works infrastructure and ongoing development initiatives.  To deliver on expectations the Director will manage and lead a workforce who tend to the delivery of water, the treatment of waste, the repair and maintenance of roads, walk ways, infrastructure and facilities either owned by the Town or co-maintained as the case may be. As there are new initiatives proposed for the future it will also be a major responsibility to act as a conceptualizer, project manager, and subsequently the person responsible for the operations and maintenance of any such project.

To be successful in this position your Experience will include an educational background which is based in engineering.  A CET designation would be considered an asset. You will couple that foundation with a least 10 years of practice which would include project management from concept to fruition with a significant capital expenditure, developing and maintaining information systems as appropriate (GIS), the managing of employees who are covered by a  Collective Agreement, dealing with contractors within a governmental context, maintaining a public positive profile while delivering on services in the face of conflicting opinions and demands. You will have managed public infrastructure for a significant part of those 10 years, bringing a track record of success within that experience.

As a major project will include a new treatment facility for water, a knowledge of advanced treatment processes along with certification at level II will be considered an asset.
