The Association of Manitoba Municipalities (AMM) represents all of Manitoba’s incorporated municipalities and supports their member municipal governments to speak with one voice. The AMM, located in Portage la Prairie with a satellite office in Winnipeg, is guided by a mission to identify and address the needs and concerns of their membership to achieve strong and effective municipal government.
Due to an upcoming retirement, we are seeking an engaged and established leader to fill the position of: Executive Director.
As a key leader for AMM reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director oversees activities and business affairs of the AMM, and liaises with senior officials of external organizations, the federal and provincial governments, municipalities and the media to enhance the profile of the AMM.
As the Executive Director you will:
o Work with the Board of Directors and Executive Committee: setting the strategic direction and ensuring successful achievement of the defined strategic objectives; act as a professional advisor on all internal and external issues and activities; and provide required guidance and support.
o Build and maintain relationships and liaise with Government Departments, Municipalities and External Organizations.
o Oversee all financial/risk, advocacy and communications, human resources, marketing, and administrative management activities.
o Actively participate in professional and community organizations and represent AMM at events and community activities – within and outside the Province of Manitoba.
o Oversee the Buying Group for Manitoba Municipalities, the AMM Trading Company Ltd.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
o Post-secondary business degree or equivalent experience managing people and resources.
o Minimum five years management experience with a demonstrated competence in assessing priorities and managing a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment.
o Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships.
o Prior experience working with and reporting to a Board of Directors and interacting with senior officials of government an asset.
o Expert level of knowledge and skills in the following competencies:
