The RM of West St Paul is looking for a new member of its executive team to lead the organization into the next generation of high growth. Under direction of the CAO, the Director of Finance is responsible for the financial health of the organization. The Director of Finance will produce financial reports; develop strategies and plans for the long-term financial goals of the organization. The Director of Finance is responsible for, and has to observe every financial and operative function of the organization. You must possess the ability to continuously improve and maintain financial processes, policies and systems and oversee annual external audits in a dynamic organization. You will prepare, present and defend financial reports and recommendations to administration, council and at public forums. The role is more than finance as you will be leading in municipal promotion and marketing, including assisting in public engagement and education. Furthermore, in this municipal setting you will be familiar with practical knowledge and experience in computer systems, including the management of the Corporate Request for Service management application.
Your qualifications will include at least 5 years’ related municipal public sector experience, in addition to a CPA designation. You will also have a degree in commerce, finance or equivalent. You will possess experience dealing with Council and senior government, as well as prioritizing workloads and meeting deadlines while contributing to, and building upon, a positive and healthy work environment. You will have a strong aptitude for details and are solution oriented. Possessing a positive attitude, willingness to grow and learn with a proven track record of managing multiple projects in a deadline focused environment is imperative. The Director of Finance holds a senior position in the corporation as well as on the leadership team. You’re an analytical professional who is ambitious, resilient and a flexible leader who is responsible for the financial planning, execution and reporting of all programs. You will have a strong aptitude for details and are solution oriented.
