Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Finance the incumbent will complete all payroll processing for the Municipality and assist the Director of Finance in coordinating financial management, control, and reporting. The incumbent shall ensure that their duties are carried out in an effective, efficient, and safe manner in relation to themselves and fellow employees.

Job Type: Full-Time Term (40 hours per week)
Start Date: Immediately
Salary: Dependent on Qualifications or $44,002 to $54,529

Duties:
Reporting to the Director of Finance the incumbent will complete all payroll processing for the Municipality and assist the Director of Finance in coordinating financial management, control, and reporting. The incumbent shall ensure that their duties are carried out in an effective, efficient, and safe manner in relation to themselves and fellow employees.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a related field.
• Two (2) years’ experience with a computer system on large-scale accounting systems (payroll, bank reconciliations, working paper preparation).
• Completion of, or enrollment in, the Canadian Payroll Association program or related courses is an asset.
• Completion of, or enrollment in, a recognized accounting program (CGA, CMA) or equivalent i.e. Business Administration Diploma with a major in accounting from a recognized college or university or equivalent is an asset.
• Completion of, or enrollment in, the Manitoba Municipal Administrator’s Association Certificate Program is an asset.
• Proven knowledge and full working level experience with computer and software packages including MS Word, Outlook, Excel (spreadsheet applications) and power point.
• Knowledge of the Munisoft system is an asset.
• Physically fit and mentally able to perform the required tasks.
• Must be bondable.

Other Knowledge and Skills:
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures.
• Strong customer service skills, with the ability to effectively manage demands from a variety of clients.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing letters and reports.
• Experience dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet competing deadlines.
• Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and maintain excellent working relationships.
• Ability to work independently while demonstrating initiative and sound judgment.
