Bell President Mayor, Town of Birtle Ron Bell and his family live in Birtle, MB and farm at Isabella, MB. Ron's wife Brenda Evans is a curriculum resource for teachers in the Park West School Division. They have two sons, Jamie and Devon. Ron was councillor in the Town of Birtle for two terms before becoming Mayor in 1995, a position he has held ever since. Over the years, he has been involved with many community committees including the volunteer economic development group 'Birtle Into The Future', that was successful in raising the profile of Birtle nationally. Ron has been a provincial representative on the Board of Directors of the Keystone Centre. He also chaired the Manitoba Ruminant Task Force, which made recommendations to the provincial government in 2004 with strategies to deal with the B.S.E. crisis. Through the AMM he has been a member of the Manitoba Product Stewardship Corporation, the AMM Economic Development Task Force, the Large Urban Policing committee, the Manitoba Habitat Heritage Corporation, and the Manitoba Regional Waste Management Task Force. He currently represents the AMM on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, the Federal Gas Tax Oversight Committee, the Provincial/Local Consultative Committee on Infrastructure, and the Infrastructure Council of Manitoba. Ron also sits on all AMM internal committees. Ron is serving his fourth term as AMM President. |
